If you walk just a little further past Forever 21, right in front of the northeast entrance of the West Acres mall, you’ll see a new snack bar.
It’s called Passion Twist and provides self-serve frozen yogurt and boba tea.
What is boba tea you ask? Good question!
It’s another name for “bubble tea” which is a tea-based drink mixed with fruit, fruit syrup and milk.
Some people call it “milk tea.” With all of the different names, it can be confusing, but it is new, interesting and quite tasty.
The frozen yogurt portion is similar to the trendy Tutti Frutti that has made a niche for itself in the area.
There’s all the flavors you can think, or maybe not think of.
There is cake batter, juicy pear, strawberry, vanilla, cheesecake and root beer float, just to name a few.
And on to the toppings, one of the best parts.
They range from caramel and chocolate toppings to candy pieces and bits of fruit, but there’s a couple things that are new and exciting.
One of the things that many may not have seen before are “boppa pops.”
It’s a little ball with some kind of casing filled with an almost fruit flavored syrup. It makes the little kid inside of you come out and play with the balls to see if they bounce or break.
Flavors include mango and strawberry. Both fun and delicious.
Enough about the fun, little juice balls that pop in your mouth; this little stop has even more to offer.
They opened at a good time with the rising frozen yogurt trend, but they also offer slushies, smoothies, coffee and the boba (milk) tea.
The location may dissuade customers since it’s on an end of the mall where no other food venues are located, but hey, maybe it could help them, being the only food stop by the ever-trendy clothing store, Forever 21.
Overall, I think it’s fun, innovative and delicious. It’s hard to go wrong when you can make it yourself.
