Lauded author visits MSUM

Sherman Alexie

MSUM will host renowned author Sherman Alexie. He will be giving a lecture on his well-known novel entitled “The Absolutely True Diary of an American Indian.” This novel has been incorporated in many classes held on campus for many years. It was also adapted as a screenplay entitled “Smoke Signals.” Alexie is the winner of multiple awards such as the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature, the Boston-Globe Horn Book Award and others.

The lecture will be held in the Hansen Theater on Thursday at 7 p.m. Admission is free to MSUM students, faculty and staff. The general public is also invited to attend and can purchase tickets for $10 each. To reserve a seat, call the MSUM box office Monday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m. at 218-477-2271. Donna Brown, assistant vice president for student affairs, and the Dragon Entertainment Group are putting on this event.
